Catechism Course

Catechism is a Greek word meaning “to sound down”. It has traditionally referenced a question and answer format for learning the faith of the church. This is a good course for any who want to renew their understanding of the teachings of the church, but is offered in a more contemporary way in which we “wrestle” with the questions and what they mean for us (individually and corporately) so that we develop a faith that we can declare as our own. This will be offered on Sunday mornings from 9:30 to 10:15 AM beginning on September 11th 2011.
The course will follow the general outline of the Catechism as it is in the Book of Common Prayer, 1979, of the Episcopal Church of the U.S.A. The course will be offered most Sundays through the year ending before the long weekend in May (we will likely not have sessions on long weekends and will have some seasonal interruptions in the Advent, Christmas and Lent seasons).
This is an appropriate class for anyone who wants to renew/discover their faith in the context of the teachings of the Anglican Church. There will be an opportunity for persons who have attended the course to participate in baptism, confirmation, reaffirmation of their baptismal vows, or reception into the Anglican Church at a special service with the Bishop to be held in June 3, 2012. Register by emailing or phoning the church.

Introduction to the Old Testament Course

Introduction to the Old Testament will follow the curriculum guide for training of Lay Readers in the Diocese of Calgary. This is the first of four courses and we will work through this course as a book study, meeting on the first Tuesday of the month from 7 – 9 PM (September 2011 through June 2012).
This is open to anyone seeking an understanding of the literature of the Old Testament. For more information or to register for this course, please phone or email the church.
